Intuit Payment Network (IPN) vs. PayPal
Intuit Payment Network (IPN) is an online payment service, similar to PayPal, which allows you to send money without exchanging any of your personal financial information. The donation(s) is made using a pre-approved electronic transfer from your bank account to your payee. Intuit Payment Network is a service provided by Intuit, the maker of leading products like QuickBooks©, TurboTax©, and Quicken©, and is one of the most trusted names in financial software. IPN adheres to rigorous online banking industry protection standards for all online communication and safeguards your financial information. Friends of Burley (FOB) prefers this online payment method because each IPN transaction (regardless of the amount) costs $.50, providing a huge savings in online transaction fees. Although IPN does offer a credit card payment option, the cost of use is not a notable savings over PayPal (see below), and therefore FOB has chosen not to utilize this service. More information about IPN and its security can be found on their webpage by clicking here.
PayPal(TM) is a well known online payment service, which also allows people to send money without sharing financial information. We recommend using PayPal for secure online credit card donations. Each PayPal(TM) transaction costs FOB between 1.9% – 3% plus $.30 (the fee is based on the donation amount and can be as costly as 3.9%). For more information about PayPal(TM) and its security can be found on their webpage by clicking here.
