WHAT IS THE ANNUAL FUND?Burley is a special place — home to some of the best teachers in the city and a unique, effective curriculum designed to educate the whole child. The legacy of parent and community support through Friends of Burley (FOB) has been key to our success. Every year the Burley School administration looks beyond their CPS-allocated budget for the resources to create a stable and thriving school for our students. Last year Burley received support from Chicago Cubs Charities, Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation, Whole Foods, and other area businesses. But the fact remains that the bulk of donations come from you — Burley School families.
This year, the Burley Administration will spend 99% of its allocated CPS budget on staffing, which means that many essential parts of the Burley academic experience will again rely on FOB funds for their existence. In short, FOB funds are essential to the success of Burley School. The Annual Fund is FOB’s single largest fundraiser. A suggested donation of $700 per child is carefully calculated to help us meet our goals, but families are welcome to give at whatever level they are comfortable with – every dollar makes a difference.
